• Litter Picking April 2025

Gillingham Residents Unite for Successful Litter Picking Event

On Saturday, 12th April, members of the Gillingham community came together for a litter picking event organised by Jane Black from the Gillingham Parish Council. The initiative saw a strong turnout of local residents who volunteered their time and energy to help clean up the area.
Over the course of the event, participants collected more than 10 bags of rubbish from around the Gillingham area, helping to improve the local environment and foster community spirit. The parish council expressed their gratitude to all those who took part with tea, coffee and cake awards.
A spokesperson from the parish council said ” We’re incredibly proud of the community for stepping up and making a difference. It’s events like these that show the strength and care within our area”
The parish council hopes to organize similar events in the future and encourages all residents to get involved.

  • Plants for the village

As a village, we are lucky enough to have been allocated a small sum of money to brighten an area of the village with plants. It has been suggested that we plant some flowering shrubs around the border of the playground, some against the allotment fence and some against The Swan fence. The Parish Councillors will consider this further on Saturday whilst cleaning the playground equipment.
