The village is very lucky to have a large allotment site with 31 full plots, many of which have been subdivided into 2. We have a diverse group of tenants from all walks of life. Many are retired but we also have a considerable number who find the time to combine work life with allotmenteering and some who bring their young families down. We have one plot managed by a bee keeper and three plots with flocks of chickens.

The village has had allotments since 1895, when 4 acres of land were given by John George Kenyon, 6 years after he inherited Gillingham Hall. They were reduced in size in 1973 when some plots were used to create the playground behind The Swan.

The allotments are managed by Dave Baker, a parish councillor who spends too much time on his allotments (Plots 1A, 5A and 31A)! He can be reached on 01502 715765.

Annual rents for a full allotment are £10.00 and for a half £5.00.

At the time of writing (May 2025) we have three half plots vacant if anyone is interested.
